How You Can Help

Volunteer!

Project Linus of East Tennessee depends on volunteers who make and donate new, handmade, washable blankets and afghans. These blankets, lovingly created by our blanketeers, provide love and a sense of security, warmth, and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need of a hug. You can get blanket guidelines here and find drop off locations here.  We also need volunteers to help with deliveries, pick ups, cutting fabric, quilting services, sewing labels on blankets and much more.

Please contact Deb Miller via our contact page if you are interested in volunteering.

Our Wish List:

  • Stamps,
  • Gas Cards
  • Fabric and Yarn – Please Note:
  • Important Announcement:  Effective immediately, we will not be accepting patterns/books/copies, or crochet hooks/knitting needles.  Fabric that is 5 years or older will not be accepted. Even if it’s newer than 5 years, we will not accept fabric if it is musty, smells of smoke, or has animal hair. We also will not accept buttons, hooks, and other misc sewing supplies. We can not expect our drop off locations to store these items until we pick them up and we do not have individuals that generally want these items in their Project Linus volunteer work. Some of these items have been dropped off in boxes/bags that weigh 30 lbs or more. One box recently weighed over 50 lbs.  Fabric should be in bags/boxes that weigh 10 lbs or less. Fabric should be in child friendly colors and prints cotton/cotton blend/flannel/fleece. All fabric should be half yard pieces or larger. Yarn should be washable cotton and/or acrylic and in child friendly colors. Your help in adhering to these guidelines will be appreciated.  If you have donations, feel free to bring them to Faith Harvest Church on January 14.  Please do not leave at a drop off location without calling Deb first – 865 719-2862.
  • We NEED $$:   We always welcome financial donations to help with Project Linus expenses including publishing the newsletter and brochures, buying labels for the blankets, and mailing blankets for the Snowball Express program. We’d prefer a gift card (JoAnns, Staples, Target, Walmart, K-Mart, etc.), checks made out to Project Linus or cash.
  • You can also make an online donation on the National Project Linus website donation page.  Be sure and scroll down to the comment box and designate the Project Linus of East TN chapter as the recipient for your donation.
  • You can support Project Linus of East Tennessee while shopping at Kroger.  Learn more here.
